Award Ceremony of the International Competition, Carrara, Italy

Within the framework of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of UNESCO Clubs and the 21st anniversary of the Club for UNESCO in Carrara, the Award Ceremony of the International Competition “Award Carrara Creative City – International Forum of young marble sculptors” took place in Carrara (Tuscany) on 28-29 July 2018. The event was under the patronage of WFUCA and organized by the Italian Federation of Clubs and Centres for UNESCO. This Competition, at its 4th edition, is a concrete example of FICLU’s commitment to work together, at the international level, for the promotion of the material and immaterial heritage with and for young people.

International Conference under the auspices of UNESCO “Astana: center of peace and reconciliation”, Astana, Kazakhstan

The aim of the Conference was to create an interactive platform for an exchange of best practices and ideas in the field of promoting and preservation of interethnic reconciliation and intercultural dialogue among representatives of a broad international community.

The International Conference was dedicated to the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the capital of Kazakhstan – Astana city and was held as part of the promotion of the International Decade for Rapprochement of Cultures for 2013-2022 and state program “Ruhani Zhangyru”.

More than 200 experts were united to discuss the issues of intercultural dialogue and sustainable development for UNESCO Clubs.

Based on the results of the Conference, recommendations were developed and further development directions for UNESCO Clubs aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals identified. One of the results achieved at the end of the event was the confirmation of the status of Kazakhstan as a center of peace and harmony in the world arena, as well as increasing the level of leadership qualities of the youth of Kazakhstan and the Asia-Pacific region countries. The holding of this event was a kind of appeal inviting the UNESCO Member States to unite their efforts in promoting cultural rapprochement and achieving peace in their countries.

International Festival under the auspices of UNESCO “The Planet of ART”, Astana, Kazakhstan

The International Festival under the auspices of UNESCO “The Planet of ART”, dedicated to the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Astana, opened its doors for 100 young masters of fine art from more than 20 countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

The main goal of the project, which covered more than 10,000 participants, was to promote intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding, as well as to strengthen the friendship between the growing generations of countries in the region.

The final of the Festival was held for three days. The first day was creative, the second day was more cultural and cognitive, and on the final third day, the long-awaited ceremony of awarding the winners of the International Festival “The Planet of ART” with a gala concert in the Amphitheater on the Esil River embankment was held. More than 100 project finalists from different countries of Asia have become young ambassadors of their states at the Anniversary of the capital of Kazakhstan.

In the framework of the evening the presentation of a special album of children’s art “Astana – the city for peace”, dedicated to the 20 year Anniversary of the Astana, was held. The Album was opened with an introductory article by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A.Nazarbayev and UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.

The organizers of the Festival are the Asia-Pacific and Kazakhstan Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations and the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy with the wide support of the ministries and the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty.

24th Session of AFUCA Executive Board meeting, Astana, Kazakhstan

The 24th Session of the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific Federation of Clubs and Associations of UNESCO (AFUCA) was held on 1st July, Astana. The meeting was attended by more than 60 representatives from 15 Asian countries, including the heads of the UNESCO Clubs of Kazakhstan.

On the sidelines of the sessions, issues of the further functioning of the Organization were considered, national reports on the work of the Federations for the past two years were presented, and also the current members of the National Federation of UNESCO Clubs of Tajikistan and the National Association of UNESCO Clubs of the Philippines.

Following the results of the 23rd Session of the AFUCA Executive Board held in September 2016 in Almaty, the President of the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs Bolat Akchulakov was elected President of the Asia-Pacific Federation for 2016-2020.
