The Extraordinary Session of the Executive Board of WFUCA, Paris, France

The Extraordinary Session of the Executive Board of WFUCA was held on 12 August 2019 in Paris, France. During this session, the Executive Board members worked together and proposed a revised version of the Constitution of WFUCA, which will be submitted to the next World Congress for adoption. The meeting also introduced the progress made regarding the implementation of the “Regulatory Framework regarding Associations, Centres and Clubs for UNESCO” in different countries; discussed and adopted the postponement of the next World Congress considering the difficult circumstance we are currently facing.

The Executive Board member visited the UNESCO Secretariat on the following day and exchanged with the officials of the PAX Sector.


The summer school on good practices in education for sustainable development, Bucharest, Romania

The Summer School which organized by the UNESCO Chair in Culture of Human Rights and Education for Sustainable Development in Pre-School and Primary Education in cooperation with the National Commission of Romania for UNESCO, the National Commission of France for UNESCO, the Federation European Association of Associations, Centers and Clubs UNESCO (FEACU) and the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, will include courses, workshops, panels, round tables, field studies on:

  • National and international documents serving education for sustainable development;
  • Policies and Strategies in Education for Sustainable Development;
  • Good practice in education for sustainable development;
  • Sharing ideas and putting ideas into practice.

Forum of “International Cities Cultural Dialogue”, Beijing, China

On 30 May, as a part of the China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations hosted a forum “International Cities Cultural Dialogue”. The forum provided a high-level platform for multicultural dialogue. More than 50 representatives from over 10 countries and regions, including Italy, Ukraine, the United States, Japan, and Iran, attended the forum. Mr. Bhatnagar, President of WFUCA, attended the forum and delivered an opening speech.

The Executive Board meeting of EFUCA, Minsk, Belarus

The Executive Board meeting of the European and North American Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations (EFUCA) was held from 26 to 28 May, 2019 in Minsk, Belarus. The meeting was attended by Presidents of National Federations of UNESCO Clubs from Romania, Italy, France, Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Serbia, USA. Ms. Daniela Popescu, president of EFUCA and Mr Mariette Bancheva, the President of the UNESCO Community at UNESCO Headquarters were also invited to the meeting.

International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Education, Beijing, China

Mr. Tao Xiping, Honorary President of WFUCA, addressed a speech on the theme of “Strengthen international exchanges and boost AI+ education” at the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Education, co-organized by the Government of China and UNESCO, with the objective to study emerging AI technologies and innovative practices of the use of AI in education. More than 500 participants attended this conference, including high-level representatives from the Member States, representatives of UN agencies and international organizations, leaders of the AI industry, academic experts, policymakers and practitioners.

Call for application: Award Carrara Creative City – International Forum of young marble sculptors in Carrara

With the intention of celebrating the appointment of “Creative City” that UNESCO released to the city in 2017, the Italian Federation of Clubs and Centres for UNESCO, in collaboration with the Club for UNESCO in Carrara and the City of Carrara, organizes this Competition.

The Competition is addressed to young sculptors and public or legally recognized Academies’ students from all over the world, (sculpture section), aged between 18 and 35 years old at the application submission.

The deadline for the application’s submission is 14 June 2019 at 12 a.m.  (It will count the postmark). All applications must be sent, by post, to Comune di Carrara – Settore Cultura – Via Solferino, 1 – 2° piano – 54033 Carrara (MS)

Call for Nomination: 2nd International Youth Picture Book Festival on the theme “Picture Creating for Future”

The 2nd International Youth Picture Book Festival, organized by CNFUCA, Beijing Municipal UNESCO Clubs Association, and Beijing Institute of Education, in collaboration with the Experimental School Affiliated to Central Academy of Fine Arts, will take place in October 2019, Beijing, China.

Created in 2017, this festival aims to provide an opportunity for kids and teenagers to develop their interests and skills in the fine art field as well as to know and learn more about the diversity of culture. The International Youth Picture Book Festival is organized every two years. All the children and teenagers from 4 to 18 years old are invited to participate in this festival.

There is no limit to artwork in the style, technique, and form. Propylene, colored pencils, watercolors, oil paints, charcoal or ink painting, line-drawing, paper-cut, and printmaking, etc. are all accepted.

The deadline for the submission of the nominations is 30 May 2019.

International Capacity-Building Seminar “Asian UNESCO Clubs for Global Citizenship Education” and Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Club

An International Capacity-Building Seminar was organized by Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs and the Asian-Pacific Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations in cooperation with the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO and UNESCO Almaty Office on 30 April and 1 May. The event brought around 150-200 participants from the UNESCO Clubs network of the Asian-Pacific Region, representatives of government, academia and private sector, and leading UNESCO experts on Global Citizenship Education (GCED). The event aimed to contribute to the mainstreaming the Global Citizenship Education among representatives of civil society through the UNESCO Clubs network at the grassroots level in the Asia-Pacific region.

The 17th International Youth Festival of Musical Creativity “Earth Is Our Common Home”, Ekaterinburg, Russia

The 17th International Youth Festival of Musical creativity “Earth is our common home” was held from 25 to 30 April in the Ural in order to support the development of artistic initiatives teenagers and youth and creates conditions to meet their needs for self-actualization. The Festival was held by the Sverdlovsk State Children’s Philharmonic Society in cooperation with the Ural-Siberian Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations with the support of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region.

This year the festival gathered more than 500 participants from 10 countries and various regions of Russia. Members of the UNESCO Clubs movement from China, Tunisia, and India took part in the Festival.
